Roni Capin Rivera-Ashford's stories and books

have been connecting and preserving families, generations, cultures, and their histories for many years. Roni's ability to relate to children and adults, in English as well as Spanish, is another of her gifts as evidenced by the over 150,000 books already sold.

Roni's newest book, My Tata's Remedies / Los remedios de mi tata, as well as her first two, My Nana's Remedies / Los remedios de mi nana and Hip, Hip, Hooray, It's Monsoon Day! / ¡Ajúa, ya llegó el chubasco! are all equally wonderful tools for teachers. These books can be used from Kindergarten through 8th grades, even high school.

In fact, most adults enjoy Roni’s books too because they learn from them and often rekindle their own cultural traditions and family memories.

All of Roni's books are Tools

for individuals of any age, librarians, parents, teachers to help children, as well as adults, embrace the love of reading and storytelling. These unique books help preserve family and cultural traditions and languages while bridging generations. Most of the books bring the delight of colorful, culturally appropriate artwork, in addition to historical and scientific facts contained in the extended educational glossary found at the back of the NANA'S, MONSOON and TATA'S books.

Roni's books are excellent for Dual Language, ESL, SSL, English, Spanish, History, Reading and Science classes. They have the potential to enrich any curriculum while promoting literacy, cultural awareness and the preservation of family traditions.

A Note from Roni:

"I take threads from the child within me and blend them with the adult I've become. Then, I weave them into stories which are the tapestries of life. These I share from my heart to yours. My goal is to make my books available to children, families, educators, librarians, healers, scientists, historians - readers everywhere. My dream: to build bridges of communication among all peoples through literacy. My goal: to promote acceptance and eliminate discrimination; to be instrumental in solidifying the idea that there is ONE race, the HUMAN RACE. My books invite discussion of family traditions, remedies, language and culture. I invite everyone to open the door of opportunity to learn about and embrace their own mixture of ethnicities, cultures & heritage, and walk toward respecting those of others."
